Miramare Castle

Just outside of Trieste on the Adriatic is Miramare Castle. It was built by Maximilian of Hapsburg, rear admiral of the Austrian Navy. He lived there a few years before being made emperor of Mexico where he was killed. His wife returned for several years before going crazy. Dad story, beautiful place.
