Yesterday was glorious, from morning through to the evening.
And today is every bit as beautiful!

Most people never get to the back side of the Duomo. It offers some nice views.
And then we were witness to a wedding.
This striking figure, who’ve I’ve seen before, was watching too.

Orvieto has 1200 caves under its streets and houses. There are many places to see them. One is under Pasticerria Adriano. It covers 800 square meters on 4 different levels. An artrist has spent 30 years carving fantasy figures into the soft tuffa rock. It is very hard to capture this with a camera. Hopefully the following gives a sense.
Above and below are two passageways created by the Etruscans in the 6-400 B.C. era. These were used to move around and connect cisterns that held water.
Another smaller cistern. They lined these with a waterproof paste made of lime and volcanic rock – the world first cement.
And below, some of the fantasy figures.

The last few days.
The last super moon of the season. We missed the first two because of clouds, but finally see this one in Orvieto.
We take our Discovery Orvieto group for some wonderful pastry and coffee before going to see some of the 1200 caves under Orvieto.
The morning mists are beginning to form. These are burned off in the afternoon leading to the formation of mold on grapes. The mold sucks the water from the grapes leaving a sweet grape used to make dessert wine.
